The season for pumpkins typically begins in September and runs to Halloween (or the weekend afterward). Each farm is a bit different though so be sure to check out availability, cost, and hours before heading out. Take a minute to go to the farm’s website for guidance on social distancing, masks, and other precautions if there are any still in effect.

This enormous farm has crops spanning over 420 acres, with 48 acres devoted solely to pumpkins. This is the place to find the perfect pumpkin from small, decorative pumpkins to massive whoppers.

In addition to picking your prize pumpkin, you can also snag some apples, take a spin through their corn maze, hop on a tractor, and have 16 acres of family fun! Come to one of the three locations of the Harbes Family Farm in Riverhead, Jamesport, and Mattituck. There are acres of family fun at each farm. You can even get your Christmas tree here later in the year. The roasted corn at the farm stand, open every day except Tuesday, is always a hit, as is the corn maze. The corn maze is spread out over 5 acres and is open on weekends and holidays through the end of October. Plan on it taking about 25-30 minutes to complete!

The Milk Pail

The Milk Pail combines all sorts of fall fun into one great experience. Head over for over 55 varieties of you-pick pumpkins and gourds. Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden Center

While fall spells extra fun at Waterdrinker, they offer year-round gardening help for both avid and hobby gardeners. When fall rolls around, head over for you-pick pumpkins and stop by their farm stand for roasted corn, pies, fresh lemonade, and fall plants. You’ll also find a corn maze, tractor pedal cars, barnyard animals, mini-golf, an obstacle course, weekend hayrides, and their daily Fall Festival held through October. 

Come to Waterdrinker Family Farm for the pumpkins, corn maze, hayrides, and roasted corn. Stay at the farm for the super useful gardening help. This farm is open daily from 10 – 5p and is much more than just a pumpkin patch. Try your hand at the haunted corn maze one night…if you dare! The pumpkin picking patch is free to enter but if you want to participate in some of the other activities, there is a per person fee of $10/p weekdays and $15/p on weekends.

Whickham’s Fruit Farm

Offering the simple joys of fall, Whickham’s features you-pick pumpkins and apples along with a farm stand featuring fresh fruits, cheeses, pies, preserves, baked goods, and more. Windy Acres Farm 

From mini-pumpkins to jumbo varieties, you’ll have plenty to choose from at Windy Acres Farm’s you-pick pumpkin patch. You’ll also be able to pick your own veggies like eggplant, tomatoes, and peppers, and fruits such as peaches, apples, and nectarines, as well as a variety of berries. While you’re there, visit their farm stand for fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, and more. You’ll also find seasonal favorites like gourds, straw bales, cornstalks, candy apples, and mums. Enjoy the new concession stand offering roasted corn, soup, popcorn, kettle corn, cotton candy, and more.
