Are you looking for great Long Island oyster, clam, and shellfish raw bars so you can happily enjoy some bivalve goodness that’s super fresh and tasty? I like the way you think. And I think you will like this list.

Many, if not most, of us, think of fall as back-to-school, foliage, side donuts, and apple and pumpkin picking. While I cannot argue with any of that don’t forget the pumpkin beer – there’s much more to enjoy than just that! There are other things that are at their finest as well…namely the Long Island oyster!

With dozens of Long Island oyster farms in our area, we are lucky to have such great quality and choice! While you can enjoy your seafood in so many different ways, both cooked or not, I just love the feel of having a platter of raw Long Island oyster, clams, and more at a local raw bar. These are spots that focus on freshness and quality and know how to serve up the fruit of the sea.

To be honest, finding a restaurant with delicious fresh seafood on the island isn’t a challenge at all because it’s packed with those. But each establishment has its own vibe and traits and is suitable for different occasions, and you’ll want to know what to expect before you make a reservation. So read on and learn which one of these 23 Long Island raw bars is perfect for your event.

The Boatyard

With five different menus – raw bar, salad bar, taco bar, pizza bar, and an American bistro – all inside the waterfront bar & grill, The Boatyard is perfect for people who have different food preferences. So if you are a seafood fan and your partner prefers pizza, you don’t have to argue over which restaurant to choose; you both can get what you want. The raw bar menu features East Coast oysters (including our Long Island oyster), Jumbo shrimp cocktail, local clams, and there is also lobster roll, lobster bisque, and chowder. It’s always delicious, fresh, and super enjoyable especially with live music and the dance floor that contribute to the chilled atmosphere of The Boatyard.

Jordan Lobster Farms

Opened in 1938, Jordan Lobster Farm isn’t your ordinary family-owned seafood restaurant. It’s also a fish market, clam bar, sushi bar, and every part of this establishment is simply excellent. And after you’re done, why not take some freshly prepared fish cakes home? Trust me, you’ll want it later because once you get the taste of this heavenly food, you never really stop craving more. Luckily, though, Jordan Lobster Farm is open year-round, so even if you forget to take some with you, you’ll get another chance tomorrow.

Point Lookout Clam Bar

Dining in the lovely outdoor seating right on the water in Point Lookout Clam Bar around sunset time is a dreamy experience. But the food plays the most important role in the scenario because unless the food quality and taste live up to the expectations, you won’t be able to enjoy the sunset and the atmosphere. You don’t need to worry, though; the restaurant’s motto “From our ships to your lips” guarantees that you only eat the freshest seafood, and the chef knows exactly how to make you fall in love with the place. All your seafood favorites, sandwiches, tacos, pasta, sushi, and more are available at Point Lookout Clam Bar, which is open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Popei’s Clam Bar

The thing about Poper’s Clam Bar is that it’s like a treasure trunk – looks like a simple average box from the outside, but on the inside… that’s gold. Established in 1980, this family-owned and operated restaurant offers you a raw bar, steaks, award-winning baby back ribs, pasta, burgers, and more. It’s suitable for every occasion – family dinner, a date, or a night out with your friends. Schultzy’s Restaurant & Raw Bar

You might have heard about the catering services of Schultyzy’s Fresh Seafood Caterers company or even ordered a ready-to-bake shellfish bucket for your party, but did you know that now you can have the seafood cooked for you at Schultzy’s restaurant? It was just opened in May 2021, so there is a big chance you didn’t know about it yet, and I think it’s time to remedy that. The “bay-to-table” raw bar that consists of succulent shrimp, clams, oysters, and lobsters is still the highlight of the establishment, but the restaurant also offers plenty of other delicious options.

Schultzy’s Restaurant & Raw Bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

265 Bayville Ave., Bayville, L.I., NY 11709

Vincent’s Clam Bar

Do you know how to differentiate between restaurants that are in it for the money and the ones that care about their customers? It’s the consistency of quality. You see, if a restaurant cares about customers, they want to and will provide the best for them, always, without excuses. And Vincent’s Clam Bar is one of those restaurants. From the very beginning when Vincent’s was just a pushcart to becoming the welcoming Italian restaurant it is now – through it all, the food quality and taste never suffered. In addition to the raw bar, Vincent’s offers you brick oven pizzas, pasta, salads, and mouth-watering Italian desserts.

Vincent’s Clam Bar is open from 11:45 a.m. daily, and it closes at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Waterzooi

When a person is doing something they love, they’ll be perfect in every way. And judging by what perfection Waterzooi is, its owner really does love being in the restaurant business. Attentive friendly staff, innovative menu, exquisite seafood dishes, lovely ambiance – this Belgian bistro will make your visit unforgettable for sure. With so many seafood choices the restaurant has to offer, like a great choice of Long Island oyster, other East and West Coast oyster options, lobster cocktail, crab cocktail, shrimp, clams, I know that you’ll have a hard time deciding what to order, so let me make it a bit easier for you: Blue Point Oysters and Homard Moules Pot are a must.

Waterzooi has two locations on Long Island – Garden City and Port Washington – and both locations have the same opening hours: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 12 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Catch Oyster Bar

Yes, the seafood restaurant might not be the grandest or the fanciest, but the food, the food is everything there! The raw bar is super fresh, the lobster roll is perfectly flavored, fish tacos are to die for, and – well, I can go on and praise every item on the menu, but you get the point. You can really enjoy a great Long Island oyster and so much more here!

The opening hours of Catch Oyster Bar are 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Clam Bar

The only problem people ever have with The Clam Bar at Napeague is that it’s opened seasonally. The little red shack with umbrella-topped tables and relaxed atmosphere is a Long Islanders’ landmark, a sign that the summer is here, and just like with summer, you can never get enough of it. Famous for the lobster roll (the best on the East End, as they claim), The Clam Bar will also surprise you with its mind-blowing raw bar that includes Montauk Pearl oysters on the half shell (a great Long Island oyster), spicy crab-and-corn chowder, and grilled tuna bites.

During the season, The Clam Bar is open from 11:30 a.m. until sundown seven days a week.

Chowder Bar

When it’s not the season and The Clam Bar is closed, Chowder Bar will be glad to serve you some delicious clams on the half shelf with their special sauce along with flavorful chowders, sandwiches, and the heavenly key lime pie. Open year-round (except for February) and situated right next to the Great South Bay, the restaurant is exceptional when it comes to seafood and a warm welcoming atmosphere. You won’t believe it, of course, but it takes Chowder Bar only one bite to turn you from a skeptic into a regular.

Chowder Bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Order anything and enjoy, but some of the entrees that you should definitely check out include Kingston’s Clam Bake, lobster roll, and fried seafood platter – well worth your money.

Kingston’s Clam Bar is open seasonally, and the opening hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Lulu Kitchen & Bar

Lulu Kitchen & Bar is noteworthy for a lot of things, but two of those come to mind first: simplicity and wood-fired cooking. The simplicity that is obvious everywhere in the restaurant (from the logo to recipes) allows a customer to enjoy the experience in its purest form as it’s as authentic as possible. And the wood-fire grill – do I really need to say more? Montauk Pearl and Peeko oysters with mignonette, horseradish sauce from the raw bar, Lulu’s signature heirloom cauliflower, and bigeye tuna tartare are a must-try.

Lulu Kitchen & Bar is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day except for Tuesdays.

The restaurant offers you not two, not three, but six oyster options to choose from – Lazy Point, Beausoleil, Montauk Pearls, Kumamoto, Red Truck, and Peconic Bay (all served with mignonette and cocktail sauce). The raw bar also includes ceviche, shrimp cocktail, king crab, littleneck clams, and chilled lobster.

The opening hours of Manna at Lobster Inn are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday (closed on Wednesdays), 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

North Sea Tavern

The North Sea Tavern is the perfect option for you if you want to have some fun in a casual friendly atmosphere but also crave some seafood. The menu is pretty simple – burgers, sandwiches, tacos, nachos, pizza – and the raw bar includes only shrimp cocktail and oysters. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s definitely good food and you will have a good time here for sure because along with the drinks and food the bar often has some events you can participate in: karaoke, live music, DJ’s, sports viewing events, and more.

The North Sea Tavern is open every day from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Oar Steak and Seafood Grill

The Oar is a very universal restaurant that can accommodate any needs and preferences. And its steaks (prepared with only certified Angus beef) are just as spectacular as seafood dishes. The Oar truly has something for every taste. The raw bar items include clams, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and tuna tartare.

Virgola Oysters & Italian Wine Bar

I have four words for you: Italian wine and oysters. Yes, I didn’t think perfection existed, either, but Virgola Oysters & Italian Wine Bar proved me wrong. Enjoy a glass of red with your favorite raw bar item – be it oysters, scallops, tuna tartare, ceviche, jumbo shrimp cocktail, Salmon Crudo – or go for a seafood platter. Also, a charcuterie board of cheese and meats imported from Italy is a must. You won’t get a full meal at this wonderful establishment, but you’ll enjoy yourself tremendously.

Virgola is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
