As the weather begins to chill, I know that we start to think about the holiday season, including which Long Island Christmas tree farm we are going to visit to really kick things off. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s is just around the corner, even though it’s difficult to believe. This time of year just seems to fly by, perhaps even faster than the rest of the year does.

I don’t like jumping the gun, but it really is true that when the calendar flips to November, hyper quick holiday mode seems to come in fast with it. It’s a lot to wrap your head around, but it’s such a great time of the year! Now that autumn’s Halloween fun, haunted housescorn mazespumpkin picking, and apple picking season is over, it’s time to enjoy some of the best Long Island tree farms! Few things scream joy and warm feelings more than a beautifully decorated Christmas tree!

Whether you want to cut down your own tree or prefer buying a freshly-cut one, here’s a great list of 12 Long Island tree farms starting west and heading east for you to check out. Elwood Pumpkin and Christmas Tree

Pick up Norway Spruce, Blue Spruce, Douglas Firs, Fraser Firs, and White Pine. Open Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, from 10 AM  to dark, Dec 2. to Dec. 24 from 3 PM to dark on weekdays and 10 AM to dark on weekends.

Tilden Lane Farm

This Long Island tree farm has been owned and operated by the Tilden family continuously since 1793, offering both cut-your-own and pre-cut trees, as well as handcrafted wreaths, decor, and honey from our beehives.

Pick up Blue, Norway, Serbian or White spruce trees, Concolor, and Douglas fir trees. Open select weekends from 9 AM to 3PM, generally three weekend beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving.

In business since the 1600s, enjoy the farm’s Holiday Light Show and hayrides. Open daily Black Friday through Christmas Eve. Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM.

UPDATE, call ahead as the farm may be closed early in 2020 due to COVID.

Matt’s Christmas Tree Farm

Choose from over 10,000 trees, ranging from 2-foot tall table toppers to 14-foot trees. You can pick up Norway Spruce, Blue Spruce, White Spruce, Serbian Spruce, Balsam Fir, and Concolor Fir. This Long Island Christmas tree farm is open Black Friday through Christmas Eve everyday but Tuesdays, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Enjoy Christmas family time by taking pictures with Santa and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Jump in their bouncy houses, take a ride on their brand new tractor pull, visit their petting farm, sip hot chocolate or hot apple cider, munch on popcorn, and make s’mores in their fire pit.

Claimed to be “The Largest Christmas Shop in the Northeast,” it features a wide variety of tree trimmings, Christmas candles, and more. You can choose from over 8,000 Douglas Fir trees to cut with most tree heights between 6-7 feet tall, on the farm’s 28 acres. You can also choose to purchase a pre-cut tree. Open everyday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
