Point Lookout (on Reynold’s Channel)

waterfront dining long island
Source: Ted’s Fishing Station Instagram

Point Lookout is one of my favorite little towns on the Island. If you are looking for some really classic, unique, and clustered waterfront restaurants Long Island, then this is the town for you! It’s so close yet a world away. It’s a tiny hamlet on the Eastern tip of a barrier island that includes “the beaches” including Lido Beach, Long Beach, and Atlantic Beach.

You will see kids on bikes with no shoes, beach cottages with narrow roads, and water on all sides. It’s an amazing spot with a bunch of great places inland, too. Here are the waterfront spots located right on Reynold’s Channel (not on the ocean).

Ted’s Fishing Station

Ted’s is a classic beach bar, very basic, very beachy. Frozen drinks, cold beers, beach food, good vibes. It’s the ideal beach vibe all the time. Plus, go fishing, rent or charter a boat, fill your boat up with gas, or just hang. Beachy.

143 Bayside Dr., Point Lookout, NY, 11569. Call 516-431-4193 or visit https://www.tedsfishingstation.com

The Buoy Bar Waterfront Grille

Since 1999, The Buoy Bar has been offering waterfront dining and drinks with excellent views afforded from their picturesque outdoor deck right on Reynold’s Channel. The Buoy Bar is open seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner throughout the summer season.

Right next door to Buoy Bar and open since 1929, this is a super fun, casual place to relax and unwind, with your feet in the sand (literally).

Our casual menu features dishes ranging from lobster sliders and coconut shrimp, to a crisp ceasar salad and buffalo wings.

Scotty’s on the Bay has an adjoining children’s beach that is an absolute home run. We love going to their children’s fishing night (all in with food and fishing gear) for a set price per child from approx. 6-8PM on Wednesdays during the summer. We absolutely love this.

Scotty’s is open seven days a week. No reservations and seating is on a first come first serve basis. Gratuities are not accepted on credit cards but there is an ATM available on the premises.

There is also free boat docking seven days a week until 6pm.

You can watch the boats bringing in the new catch! This very casual spot if all about the fish, baby. From fried clam strips and shrimp to their new fresh sushi bar, they have it all. Plus, much of their catch comes from they own fisherman!

Their fish market is also stocked with goodies all year long!

Over the years the people and boats displayed throughout the restaurant have brought their catch straight to their dock. From the one man garvey who catches clams by hand to the 100 foot trawlers.

Open 7 days a week. Open for lunch and dinner from 11:30-9:30.
